I’ve been involved in some form of sales and marketing most of my adult life and for the most part I’ve enjoyed it immensely as it has taken me to some pretty cool places. However like any other profession, there are highs and lows, peaks and valleys, and good and bad aspects of any line of work and sales and marketing are certainly no exception. One of the things I did not enjoy about sales and marketing was selling the same marketing product/service to multiple businesses in the same industry in the same geographic area because it always left a bad taste in my mouth and I never thought it made sense.

The problem that I have with non-exclusive marketing is that no one wins except for the marketer which I always thought should be the complete opposite. Businesses reach out to marketing companies to help them get the word out about what they do, what they sell, where they do it, and why you should choose them over their competition.  So essentially a marketer that works with multiple businesses in the same industry in the same area is technically doing nothing but helping themselves and creating more competition among their clients when they are already in a competitive arena (at least in my humble opinion.) It wasn’t until I started working for a small, start up online marketing company that I learned that you could actually offer exclusivity and make money doing it but like most of the jobs in my life it was short lived because that company had other issues….BIG issues. Nevertheless, I so truly believed that exclusivity in online marketing was imperative that I eventually started Web Force KC to prove it could work but with a new twist. Rather than being constantly focused on adding new clients and growing MY company I opted to help grow what few clients I had internally and as they grew, I would be able to grow with them. Luckily, it worked and much better than I could have ever imagined. For some clients, I helped to add new services to their company that were completely unimaginable when they first started and for some adding new locations throughout the Kansas City metro (and beyond). Either way, my goal was and continues to be to grow them first and focus on Web Force KC second and it seems to have worked out pretty well so far. Sure I like making money but it’s not the first thing I think about everyday when I log on to my laptop and start banging out content for my clients. The simple fact that I can look back at the history of my clients’ growth and attribute it in part to what I do for them everyday is more rewarding than any amount of money and I suspect they feel the same. That’s what Web Force KC does for its clients and we thoroughly enjoy doing it.
